Band News . . .

WIND ENSEMBLE/CONCERT BAND: These are the two curricular bands.  By audition process, sophomores through seniors are assigned to either the Wind Ensemble or the Concert Band.  All freshman are in the Concert Band.  There is no audition for freshman to be in the Concert Band.  The bands will each have 4 shared concerts throughout the year.  These ensembles will focus on concert literature ranging from transcriptions of early instrumental music to contemporary musical works.  Attention will be placed on developing individual tone quality, reading ability and good ensemble playing techniques.

RENEGADE REGIMENT: The Renegade Regiment is the competitive marching band.  This band competes during the summer and fall with other marching bands.  There bands (Summer Regiment and Fall Regiment) are voluntary and meet outside the school day.  This band is open to all who are interested.  There is no audition.

JAZZ BAND: The jazz program is open to all by audition.  Depending on interest there may be more than one band.  The jazz bands performs 3 - 5 times through the year.

MARCHING INDIANS: The Marching Indians is a voluntary marching band, which performs at home football games (4 or 5) and in the Homecoming Parade.  This band is open to all who are interested.  There is no audition.

PEP BAND: Orange Crush Pep Band is a voluntary band during the 2nd and 3rd quarters.  The Pep Band performs at 10 - 12 home basketball games during December - February.

Recent Events:

On Saturday, October 4th, the band travelled to Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois for the 2nd Annual Naperville Central Marching Band Festival. The Renegade Regiment received 1st place in their class, as well as outstanding colorguard, drum major, and visual general effect. On September 21st, the Renegade Regiment went to Dwight, Illinois
and competed in the Dwight Harvest Days Parade and Field Competition.
They were named 1st in their class in both parade and field competition.
Other honors from Dwight include best colorguard in field competition,
and best hornline, drumline, and drum major in parade competition. Most recently the Renegade Regiment travelled to Marengo, Illinois to
participate in the Marengo Settler’s Days Parade and Field Competition.
In parade competition the band was awarded first place overall. In field
competition, the Renegade Regiment moved from class A to class AA. The
students received 1st in their class, as well as best drum major, drumline, and visual. The Renegade Regiment has been awarded 1st in their
class in each of their competitions this fall!
