  • Lunch Today: Homemade Pizza Calzone, Steamed Carrots, Garden Peas & Cinnamon Applesucev
  • Any 7th grade girl interested in trying out for volleyball next year, there will be a meeting on May 22nd at 8:15 in the gym.
  • The Sandwich Park District is offering a Volleyball Camp June 3rd -6th for grades 3rd -6th. If you are interested, please stop by the office for an information sheet.
  • The Sandwich Park District is offering a Skateboard Clinic for ages 6 and up this Saturday, May 18th from 3-5pm at the Milestone Park. There will also be skateboard lessons offered for ages 6-14 June 1st-June 22nd. For more details please call 815-786-8044.
  • Track athletes; please turn in your washed uniforms this week.
  • Attn 8th grade students wishing to run for Class Officer next year can pick-up information in the office.
  • All 8th graders interested in playing football next fall, will meet in the LRC during Advisory on Wednesday May 29th with Coach Behringer. Summer calendar schedule will be given at the meeting. Go Indians
  • The last dance of the year is this Friday, May 17th. The cost is $5 at the door and you must have a current school ID card to attend. The dance starts earlier this time and will run from 6:00 to 8:00.Attention 8th graders… as a reward for three great years at SMS, you will get an additional hour at the dance from 8:00 to 9:00 all by yourself. Plus 8th graders get in FREE to the dance with a current school ID.
  • 7th grade: there are only 2 spots left for the Washington DC bus! See Mr. Rhoades for information
  • Waubonsee Community College is offering enrichment camps this summer for ages 4-14. If you are interested, stop by the office for a brochure.
  • Any students interested in basketball camp June 3rd-5th please stop by the office for information.
  • Information for the Indian Valley Children’s Theatre Summer Workshop is available in the office for those interested.

    River’s Edge Children’s Theatre Workshop

    This year we have teamed up with ETC! Arts Camp and Yorkville Performing Arts Center to bring our community the first annual River’s Edge Children’s Theatre Workshop. We are very proud of the team we have put together and excited to work with the area's youth in theatre, music, dance and more. Click here To sign up online, or for more information.

    Guidance Information

    Students that may be struggling with drugs/alcohol, depression, domestic abuse, and other emotional issues are encouraged to contact a school counselor and/or outside agency. Outside agencies take a variety of insurance, and some work on a sliding pay scales. Click here for agency contacts and phone numbers.

    Sandwich Middle School Dress Code

    Students are expected to come to school looking clean and neat and dressed in a manner which is accepted as being in good taste. Students should be attired in clean and seasonably appropriate clothing free from holes (unless no skin is showing) and suggestive, obscene, slanderous, or violent slogans, remarks, or pictures. Clothing and jewelry which promote the use or sale of alcoholic beverages or unlawful substances, is gang related or encourages attitudes that are immoral or unethical are not to be worn. Pajamas and other sleepwear are also not acceptable for school. The necklines and/or armholes of tops must not be immodest or too revealing. All tops must completely cover the entire shoulder, midriff, and waistline areas. Shorts, skirts, and slacks must rest on the natural waist. The length of all skirts and shorts must come to a point on your leg where your arm and hand naturally extend. No undergarments should be visible. Students must wear appropriate footwear that does not present a safety concern. Examples of inappropriate footwear include, but are not limited to, the following: slippers, flip flops, and shoes with wheels. Furthermore, students are to remove their sunglasses, hats and all other head wear at the time they enter the school until the time they leave school at the end of the day. Jackets and coats are not to be worn during the school day. Due to the potential harm that dog/choke chains and wallet chains may cause, students are not permitted to wear such items or have these articles in their possession. Students who do not comply with the district dress code will be asked to change or remove the inappropriate article of clothing. Student adherence to the dress code and appropriateness of student dress will be at the discretion of the school staff. The school dress code is expected to be followed at school sponsored activities including, but are not limited to, dances, field trips, and extra-curricular events. Each grade level will use its discretion in respect to the use of book-bags and backpacks. Sport bags should be put in your locker when you arrive at school.     Emergency Day Information

    There are several wasy that our building will communicate information about school closings. On inclement weather days, the school district encourages parents to check for up-to-date information on school closings by listening to the radio or watching television for closing information. We will send this information to WSPY (107.1 FM) and/or on the WGN television station.
    Parents may also go to http://www.emergencyclosings.com for school closing information and can sign up for e-mail notification of school closings.
