National Walk to School Day
The first National Walk to School Day was in 1997. At Woodbury we have been participating in what has become International Walk or Bike to School Day for several years. Today, October 3, about 75 of our students either walked or biked to school. Some of the students who live too far to walk the whole distance met with teachers at Knights Park and walked to school from there. Art's grocery in Sandwich provided Apples for the students as they reached school and Citizens Bank had three staff members hand out water bottles as students entered the school playground.
Matt Wilhelm Fund Raiser
Woodbury School just completed a fund raising drive
with Great American Opportunities. We are trying to raise enough funds
to purchase 3 iPads for each classroom to use as a learning center. As
an incentive for sales we arrange for Matt Wilhelm, a BMX Champion, to
do a performance here at school. It was a great incentive and the show
was one of the best we have seen. Besides doing BMX tricks Matt talked
to the students about never giving up, bike safety tips, and how he went
to college to do his best. He was very encouraging and entertaining for
our students. All students who sold at least six items were seating in
the front row and the four highest earning students met with Matt after
the show and got his autograph. You can see some video of the show on
School on FB.
